Advantages of an air mattress

source
A mattress that is inflated with air is called an air mattress. That's a simple definition! However, an air mattress is much more than just a mattress shaped balloon!

Advantages of an air mattress:

Takes the shape of the body:
An air mattress takes the shape of the body of the person sleeping on it. As a result the entire length of the body is evenly supported without distorting the natural shape of the spine. This provides a very restful sleep.

An great advantage of an air mattress over the foam ones that take the shape of the body is that the air mattress instantly becomes flat when the body moves away from an area. This allows rolling over to another side while sleeping very comfortable. The foam mattresses on the other hand are slow to fill up the contours formed and therefore while rolling over to the side, the body feels as if its is getting out of a ditch or something. Not a very convenient experience.

Eliminates pressure points:
An air mattress support the entire length of the body evenly unlike the spring mattresses that have widely distributed spring that protrude high and the rest of the areas that sag down. This unevenness of the surface exert more pressure because really speaking the body is supported by the springs at several points along the length of the body. The areas in between are too soft to provide any support to the body. Air mattresses are an excellent way to eliminate pressure points.

Firmness can be controlled:
A normal spring mattress, or even the costly foam mattresses are either too soft or too hard to meet individual preferences. In these conventional mattresses, the body has to get used to the hardness of the mattress.

An air mattress, can however be simply made more or less firm by changing the pressure of the air inside it, which can normally be done by just a flip of a button. Some manufacturers tout this feature as something very unique to their design and provide multiple remote controls to control the firmness in different sections of the mattress.

If two full size mattresses are used or if an air mattress with a partition in between is available, the two partners can control the firmness individually on his/her side. The women no longer have to bear with the firmness of the mattress that the men normally prefer!

Portability:
Air mattresses can simply be deflated and folded into a bag for storage or for taking along on outdoor camps. The battery operated pumps can inflate, and even deflate, the mattress in just a few minutes.

Cheaper than most other options:
Since the material used in an air mattress is much less than a conventional mattress, its cost is also very low comparatively. However, it is advised not to go for the really cheap ones as their quality is very questionable and you might find yourself in an awkward situation if the mattress does not live up to what it is designed to do throughout the night.

Can even be used outdoors:
The outer lining in air mattresses is always waterproof and leak proof. As a result, one may even take the mattress out near the beach or leave it in the backyard if it starts raining. However, since an air mattress is essentially a balloon, it is important to keep it safe from pointed objects or thorns that can potentially puncture the surface.

Most would fit on existing bed frames and box springs:
Air mattresses are available in standard sizes and therefore they can fit on the standard bed frames and box springs and use the standard bed linen available in the market.

Easy setup:
Setting up an air mattress is very simple. One simply needs to spread it out, connect the pump and start inflating. Once inflated to the pressure of your choice, turn the pump off. Good mattresses have automatic pumps that shut themselves off when a certain preferred pressure is reached.

Air mattresses can also be set up all by themselves on the carpet. If you have a sudden guest arriving, you don't have to rush and buy a bed frame for your air mattress! Hopefully you gonna get knowledge for advantages of an air mattress.
